Can walking a dog improve human health? According to a study published in 2005 by the Medical Journal of Australia, walking a dog daily can improve human health. The study states that the improvement is comparable to quitting smoking. Dog owners walked 18 minutes more than non-dog owners did. Those who walked for at least an hour a week were more likely to meet the amount of physical activity required for significant health benefits.
